NPC Newsletter (2nd New Series) No. 44 - September 1998

Snippets from the Log Book

Here are a selection of entries from the log book over the last few months to try and give a flavour to what is being written in the book:

17/5/9 Project X, Location M
Dewi, AT, Monico, Ben, Helen
Hilti bullets not used to considerable effect due to failure of Bosch. A good excuse for lying around in the glorious sunshine while grunts emerged from a Welshman down a small hole.

4/7/98

....more troublesome limestone needing sorting...

4/5/98 Hardrawkin Pot
G Taylor, N Blundell, A Mackie
Despite several nice formations, best feature of this pot remains proximity to Hill Inn

28 to 30 April 1998
Ingleborough, Whernside and Penyghent on distinctly separate days

Oh, the good old NPC
Which still boasts elderly men
Who labour to the top of a hill
And stumble down again!

Bill Holden, Cyril Crossley and guest - Gordon Parkin

28/3/98 Library, Greenclose
Too wet & murky for diving - so fitted Bert's 'new' carpet in library - dirty, dusty nightmare job. Only beaten by clearing shower silt trap out !! - PJM, RLC

16/4/98 Tiger + JNC to top of Ingleborough complete with half a supermarket

3/5/98 Hurtle Pot - Episode I
Good viz & very pleasant diving. Trips were:

Attempted vocal connection between Greenbank's Grotto and rift on surface - failed
With assistance on surface from John X, AT & Sue
D Raines also showed up and was grumpy

3/5/98 Hurtle Pot - Episode II
Diving was so pleasant that Dewi & Monico went back in the evening and did the through trip to Midge - splendid!
